  • Rock Island Arsenal Museum - The Rock Island Arsenal Museum, established in 1905, is the second oldest U.S. Army museum after West Point, and the only certified Army museum in Illinois. It contains information on the history of Arsenal Island, an extensive collection of small arms, and other artifacts. The museum's displays change periodically; only about 10 percent of its collection is on display at one time.   • Mississippi River Visitor Center - The Mississippi River Visitor Center, Locks and Dam 15, Rock Island, is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. except for Thanksgiving Day, from noon Christmas Eve day through Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.
