  • Quad City Botanical Center - The highlight of the Quad City Botanical Center, 2525 4th Ave., Rock Island, is its 6,444-square-foot tropical Sun Garden conservatory with a 14-foot waterfall, reflecting pools, and a 70-foot skylight peak. The center also has extensive outdoor displays, including a Conifer Garden, a Physically Challenged Garden, a Scrambled Alphabet Garden, and perennial gardens.   • Fryxell Geology Museum - Visitors to the Fryxell Geology Museum at Augustana College, 820 38th St., Rock Island will see the dinosaur skeleton Cryolophosaurus elliotti, which was discovered by Augustana professor Bill Hammer in Antarctica in 1991. The museum has a collection of rocks, minerals, fossils, and skeletons, including two pterosaurs, a tylosaurus "sea serpent," triceratops, allosaurus, and Tyrannosaurus rex skulls. The museum is in the Swenson Hall of Geosciences; visitors should turn west off 38th Street at the eastern campus entrance.
